Diesel's Big Adventure

It's Saturday, my raviolis and I want to share the story of Diesel's Big Adventure.  Diesel is a big headed dog who belongs to Jason and Kerry and the raviolis who live in Italy.  But...Diesel is living with Grandma and Grandpa in New York while his family is living overseas.  He is a good boy but likes to run off when no one is looking.  Grandma shared this story with grandma-ma last evening.

Grandpa and Diesel just returned from a walk when Diesel decided to run around the neighborhood after Grandpa unleashed him.  Grandma and Grandpa tried to get Diesel to come home, but Diesel thought it was a game and was playing hide and seek.  They cold not find him so they went home to see if he returned.  One of Grandpa's neighbors called Grandpa on the phone and said, come over to my house.  Your Diesel dog is asleep on my couch.  It looks like Diesel decided he wanted to visit his neighbors and when he saw an open door, he walked in and decided the couch looks very comfortable so he curled up and went to sleep. Grandpa had to come over with the leash and bring him home.

Diesel loves his sister, Kaitlyn.  She is a little baby in this picture.

Diesel is a big dog but he is afraid of everything.  This video is of Diesel running wild because he hears Grandma-ma pretending to be a chicken.  Look at him run. This big head lovable doggie makes grandma-ma laugh.

I like the adventures of Diesel...don't you?  Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for this funny story.  Have a wonderful Saturday my raviolis.  Grandma-ma

Freaky Friday

Hello my raviolis.  Yes, it feels like Freaky Friday for grandma-ma.

Guess what grandma-ma did?  She did something silly and now the raviolis must come to the rescue and help her out of her silly mess.  Grandma-ma shipped off two packages, one to the raviolis in Italy and the other to the raviolis in Denver. Well silly grandma-ma accidentally switched the shipping labels and you guessed it.  The box for the raviolis in Italy is now in the hands of the raviolis in Denver and the box for the raviolis in Denver is on its way to the raviolis in Italy.

What is grandma-ma to do?  Well, Aaron and Cristi have already received the Italian raviolis box and have put everything back in the box and are sending it to the raviolis in Italy. Thank you Aaron and Cristi.

Now I have to ask that the Italian raviolis to not open the box from Grandma-ma and just re label it for Denver so the Denver raviolis will get their box.

Grampy says that this couldn't be helped because grandma-ma is a blonde.  Grandma-ma is so embarrassed and hopes that the cookies that she sent to Jason in Afghanistan are not really going to friends in Puerto Rico now.

Have a wonderful day my ravs and be on the lookout for the correct boxes coming soon.  Hugs and Kisses that never get lost in the mail from Grandma-ma

How Crayons are Made

Good morning my colorful raviolis.
Grandma-ma loves to color.  So does Aunt Renee, Uncle Aaron and I bet your mommy and daddy's do too.  There is nothing more fun then a new box of Crayola crayons with all of the pretty colors in side.  They even smell good when you first open the box.  A fresh sheet of white paper or a favorite coloring book and you become an artist.  You make your world colorful by using your crayons in your crafts, your colorbooks and even your schoolwork.

Here is a "colorful" video of how crayons are made.  I hope you enjoy it.

You may have seen this video on Sesame Street.  It shows how crayons are made.
After you watch the video, you can download and print out these coloring sheets:

Have a colorful day my ravs and know that Grandma-ma loves you.

Word of the Week Wednesday

Good morning my happy, go lucky raviolis!  Yes, it's Wednesday and that means a new word is featured.  Today's word is offered up by a guest poster...Aunt Renee, and today's word is:

"feline"

A "feline" is noun and means a "member of the cat family."

So a lion is a feline, a tiger is a feline, Madison is a feline, Peaches is a feline and sometimes "Aunt Renee" is a feline.  Here is a picture of Aunt Renee pretending to be a kitten for Halloween.  Do you see her kitty ears?

Grandma-ma took this photo of Aunt Renee and our waiter wearing the monster mask at our favorite Mexican restaurant over Halloween.  Everybody wore a mask or costume.

Here is a famous feline popping out to say hello.  Yes, the Pink Panther is also a feline.

Here are pictures of other famous "felines" that you may know.

This is Mr. Snoops. He lived with Aunt Renee for many years.  He was a big kitty and loved to eat.  He liked sitting on the scale waiting for his food.  He is almost 20 pounds.

Shhhhhhh.  Sweet Peaches is sleeping.
Peaches is as soft as a cloud and is Aunt Renee's feline.

This is Zima-zoo.  He is the white kitty that adopted Aunt Renee.  This feline wants in Aunt Renee's house because it is chilly outside.  I think she will bring him in to warm up, don't you?

Madison is a feline who likes to sleep in baskets all around her house.  Madison lives in Italy with a four-cheese ravioli.

Every little feline wants to grow up to be a big, beautiful lion.

So listen to Aunt Renee, the happy feline, and use this word in three sentences today.  Hugs and kisses to all my raviolis.  Grandma-ma

It's National Marzipan Day!

Greetings my raviolis!  Did you know that today is known as National Marzipan Day?  I bet you have all seen Marzipan candy but didn't know it was Marzipan.  Marzipan is an almond and sugar paste used to ice cakes and other pastries. But what grandma-ma likes about marzipan is that it can be shaped into a variety of shapes and can then be eaten as candy or used as cake decorations. Look at these wonderful pictures of shaped marzipan candies.  They look like real fruits and pigs.

Yes, these are marzipan candy and they look just like the real thing.  Aunt Renee loves marzipan candy and so does Uncle Aaron!

How sweet are these little oinkers. Too cute to eat, but I think I would take a big bite of one anyway.

I know the raviolis who are living in Italy see Marzipan candy everywhere.  The Italians love to make marzipan sweets.  See how pretty they look in this bowl?

You can pretend to make marzipan candy using playdough...but don't eat it.  Playdough is not good for eating.  It is good for sculpting things and pretending to make marzipan candy.

Here is a picture of a PRETEND lollipop made with Play Dough.

Have a wonderful day my ravs and remember, Grandma-ma and Grampy love you.

A flying ravioli!

Hugs and kisses my raviolis.  Have you ever seen a ravioli fly?  Well I did.  When I visited my "four cheese ravioli" and the twin ravs..."sweet sausage ravioli" and "spinich pesto ravioli", I actually saw a ravioli fly.  Here is the video of this amazing event:

Watch as this flying ravioli shows good balance as she executes perfect form.  Oh, Oh, the clouds must have knocked her a little off balance because she must readjust her position.  But look, that ravioli is back on point and she is flying like the little pixie that she is.  I love you, my flying ravioli.  Be sure and spread some pixie dust so we can all fly with you.  Hugs and flying kisses from grandma-ma.

Cinnamon Toast for chilly days

Good morning my chilly raviolis!  It is still bitter cold where Grandma-ma and Grampy and Aunt Renee live.  It is also bitter cold out in Denver with Uncle Aaron and his run a muck family and Uncle Kevin, icy cold in NYC where Cousin Linda lives, snowy cold where Grandma and Grandpa and all of the aunts and uncles live and it is cold in England where Maura and Brian live and very cold where Jason, our four cheese ravioli's daddy is...which is Afghanistan.  So this is a perfect day to make a tasty snack for chilly days like today...Cinnamon Toast.

Jason and Aaron loved eating this as kids so much that we had a shaker filled with sugar and fresh ground cinnamon so they could make this tasty treat whenever they wanted it.  Ask mom or dad for a shaker that is not being used (this can be a salt or pepper shaker).  Fill it 2/3 of the way with white sugar and then add a tablespoon of cinnamon.  Put the cap back on and shake it up to mix. If you need more cinnamon, add it to the shaker.

Now, toast several slices of your favorite bread in your toaster or have someone help using the toaster oven.  Once the bread is toasted, smear with a little butter and shake the sugar and cinnamon on it.  This is sooooo good and especially after coming in from a chilly outdoor activity.

Now here is another treat...you can make your regular pancakes into cinnamon pancakes.  Yummy!

Don't these look good!

So many raviolis, let me know if you made cinnamon toast today.  Love Grandma-ma

Hello my squeaking raviolis!  I understand that the link to All the single Ladies was pulled from U-tube, so grandma-ma went and "found" another.  There is a giggling and dancing Four Cheese Ravilio out there who loves this song so we had to find another way to post it on Ravilios for Lunch.

So click on the blue letters above and it will take you to U-tube and all the single ladies.  Stay warm my raviolis and know that grandma-ma and grampy love you.   XXXXXXX  OOOOOO

Brrrrrrrr! We got some snow in Georgia

Hello my raviolis! Chilly kisses and squeezable hugs for everyone this morning.  Grandma-ma and Grampy and Kota awoke to a snowy balcony.  We do not get much snow in Georgia.  If you want to play in snow, you have to visit Uncle Aaron and his family in Denver, or Maura and Brian in Great Britian or Grandma and Grandpa and all of the "Aunts" and "Uncles" in New York.  But, if you came to visit grandma-ma today, we would have a little snow for you to see.  Grandma-ma took these pictures around 5:30 am today.

It's not a lot of snow, but it is pretty and VERY, VERY COLD out right now.

It looks very pretty outside.  Now, because we do not get much snow here, we do not have snow plows or salt trucks to help clear the roads for the people driving to work and to stores and to see friends.  Instead, most people will stay at home and wait for the snow/ice to melt first.  Grandma-ma does not live far from where she works and she knows how to drive in snowy conditions so she will go to work this morning while Grampy stays warm and toasty with Kota in bed sleeping.  Grampy is very smart.

So stay warm my raviolis and have a wonderful Friday.  Grandma-ma loves you all.

Schoolhouse Rock

Hello my rockin raviolis.  Thirty-seven years ago this week, ABC television, during Saturday morning cartoons, introduced one the most loved educational commercials for children everywhere.  It was called Schoolhouse Rock and your grandma-ma and grampy and Aunt Renee  and your mommy and daddy all grew up on these fun songs.

My favorite cartoon was from Grammar Rock and it was about interjections.  It is a fun, upbeat and snappy song and I hope you will enjoy it as much as grandma-ma.   Grandma-ma still knows all of the words and was singing along to it too.   (remember to turn off the other music before you play the videos.)

Interjections, shows excitement, shows emotion!

Here is another video that is about our nation's history.  This is another favorite of grandma-ma's.

It is called, "No More Kings."

and of course everyone remembers, "Nouns, a person, place or thing."

So my Raviolis (noun), grandma-ma (noun) sends hugs and kisses (both nouns) to you (PROnoun...but that's another song).
