Marshmallow Wreath

Hello my raviolis.  Here is a very simple wreath you can make out of marshmallows.  It is easy to make and would look pretty on your door or you can make smaller ones for your windows.

You can use both large and small marshmallows to make your wreath.

Start with a styrofoam wreath base.   Suggest starting off with an 8 or 10 inch form.  5 or 6 inch form if you want to make smaller wreaths.

You will need a box of toothpicks.

And at least two bags of marshmallows (large size) and one bag of small marshmallows.

Start by pushing toothpicks about an inch apart and pushed halfway into the foam wreath.  Once you have half the wreath filled with toothpicks, you can begin pushing marshmallows onto them.  Continue to do this until you have covered your wreath with squishy marshmallows.  Then put in the refrigerator overnight to let the marshmallows relax and stick on the toothpicks. You are now ready to hang it on your door or from your windows with a pretty ribbon.

How fun was this?  Send me a photo of your marshmallow wreath so I can put it up on your blog.  Love Grandma-ma.

iPod holiday joy

Hello my holiday raviolis.  Sometimes you hear a song that just makes you joyous and happy and wanna dance.  This young man wanted to bring some joy and laughter to holiday shoppers so he called up his favorite Christmas song and began to dance in his local mall.

This is one of grandma-ma's favorite Christmas songs and if I heard you playing this song on your ipod, I would be dancing with you no matter where we are...the mall, McDonalds, the gas station...you name it.

Watch the people around him, some are enjoying it and others don't know what to do.  Hope you dance to every song you hear and love.  Grandma-ma

Crazy KitKat

Hello my raviolis.  Grampy and grandma-ma spent thanksgiving in NY with Kit Kat and her family. We had such a good time and while there, I showed her how to make a no sew tutu.  Using tulle on rolls, you cut them in lengths of 20 inches (start by cutting about 50 of them) and then measure a piece of elastic around your waiste and tie it off.  You will then tie each piece of tulle around the elastic band.  To make this easier, slip the elastic band around a small pillow or a binder as shown in the photo below, while you are tying each piece to the elastic.

You keep tying the tulle until the elastic is covered and then your tutu is finished and read to wear.

Silly Kit Kat decided to shove some tulle up Grampy's nose. Grampy is a good sport.
Kaitlyn then decided that Grampy should wear the tutu...on his head.  It sure is pretty with all of the pink and lilac tulle.
Kaitlyn decided that Diesel should also wear the tutu on his head.  That is one crazy Kit Kat.
Finally, the crazy Kit Kat put the tutu on her head.  Silly girl, you are supposed to wear it around your waist.  I can see you are having fun with your tutu.

Christmas Trees

Hello my raviolis.  Grandma-ma went to a Christmas Open House at one of her favorite shops.  They had lots of pretty things and a lot of unique christmas trees.  Here are a few photos of those fun trees.

This was a silver glitter tree. It sparkled a lot.

This tree was silver and filled with tiny elves.

Grampy would like this tree.  It was a palm tree filled with parrots in bright colors.

Grandma-ma thought this was a fun tree as it was filled with old quad plate.

This was a huge tree and stuffed full of teddy bears.  It was a lot of fun to look at.

This was a princess tree.  Can you guess why?  Look closely.

Here is picture of the top of the princess tree.  Now can you see why it is called that?

We don't get a lot of snow in the south so a dealer made her own snowballs out of stryfoam and glitter.

Have a wonderful day my ravs.  Grandma-ma loves you.

Roadtrip around America

Hello my ravioilis.  Today I have a wonderful video to share with you.  This young man took video of all of the places he drove through when he decided to road trip around America visiting friends and relatives.  It put together almost 3 hours worth of video and then sped it up for a 5 minute trip around our beautiful country.

Grandma-ma and Grampy have driven through many of these places but there are a lot that we haven't.  I love to roadtrip, don't you?  Have a wonderful day, ravs.  Grandma-ma loves you.

Halloween House

Hello my raviolis.  While you were out trick or treating, grandma-ma drove to her bosses house to see the Halloween light show he had going. It was really neat so I took a picture and a short video for you.
There were fog machines and lots of lights and huge lit masks that looked like they were singing songs.

A short video of the singing ghost faces.  They sang lots of different Halloween songs.  It was a lot of fun to watch.  My boss built all of the light shows and set up the music and the light ghosts with controllers so they sing and move to the music.  He is a very clever man.  Have a wonderful day my raviolis. Love grandma-ma.

Spagetti fun

Hello my raviolis.  Here is a fun way to make spagetti and hot dogs.  Take a package of hotdogs...and have mom or dad slice the hotdogs into 2 inch lengths.
Take a box of dried spagetti noodles.

And poke the spagetti through the slices of hotdogs.
How cool do these little hotdogs look now?

Now have mom or dad put on the stove a big pot of water, turn on the heat and when the water comes to a boil, you can drop in each of the hot dogs with spagetti poking out.  Be very careful around the stove and hot water.  You don't want to burn yourself.  Once the spagetti is soft, you can have mom or dad pour the contents of the pot into a collander.  Now put the spagetti dogs on your plate and eat.

These look tasty.  I hope you enjoy this crazy meal.  Love, Grandma-ma.

Guess what this is?

Do you know what grandma-ma is doing?

Here are some hints.  There was water involved.

Bubbles everywhere.

More water and lots of slapping sounds.

Do you think you know what this is?  Can you tell?  Grandma-ma was inside something while all of this noise and water and slapping and air and action was going on.

Did you guess correctly?  Well, it was the car wash if you didn't know.  Grandma-ma took her car through the car wash to get the Lawrenceville "stank" off of her car.  I like going through the car wash, do you?  It's fun to watch the machines work and be surrounds by squirting water and lots of bubbles and slapping blue flaps.  Have you been through a car wash?  Hopefully you were in the car or truck or van while you did.  Have a wonderful day my raviolis.

ps.  the day after grandma-ma washed her car...it rained. LOL

Decorate a pumpkin

Hello my raviolis.  Here is a very easy and quick way to decorate a Halloween pumpkin for your front porch.

You take a big pumpkin...

you punch a hole on either side of the stem base with a hammer and philips head screwdriver. Ask mommy or daddy to help you with this.

You take two harvest pics from your local craft store and put one in each hole in the pumpkin that you just made.

and there you have it.  A pretty harvest pumpkin for the front entrance of your home.

Don't forget, you can use the pumpkin for pumpkin pies when Halloween is over.  Love to my ravs. Grandma-ma

Chipwrecked.

Guess what's coming to the movies this Christmas?  Yup, Alvin and the Chipmunks and those pretty little Chippettes are back in the theater singing up a storm and getting in to silly trouble.

Here is the movie trailer...this looks like fun.

Would you like to go on a cruise with these little guys?  I would. Have a chipmunkee day my ravs.  Grandma-ma loves you.

Word of the Week Wednesday

This is a good one my raviolis. Today's word is

Determination

Why, determination, because when you watch this video, you will see determination and self control.

What a good boy to stand so still while his master piles neatly on his nose doggie treats.  It sorta looks like Jenga for dogs.  Still, this good boy knew that if he stood still and wait for his masters voice to get them, he would receive his reward.  That is determination.

We can use determination while doing our homework.  Sometimes it's just not fun to do it, but...if you work at your assignment quietly and methodically (another good word) the reward is a good grade and knowing that you have just added another "smart tool" into your bag of knowledge tricks.  Sort of like being a Math or Science or History MacGyver.

And we all love MacGyver.  Have a determined day my ravs. Grandma-ma loves you with all her heart and determination!

I'm thinking Pumpkins

Pumpkins???? Grandma-ma, why pumpkins?  Well, my ravs, Indian summer is on its way with warm days and cool nights.  The sun is setting a little earlier these days and you will notice that your shadows are much longer because of it.  When the days get shorter, grandma-ma thinks pumpkins.

I like pumpkins.  They are big and orange and pretty and fun to decorate and especially to make pumpkin pies with.

I like the white pumpkins you can buy now.  They are pretty in some of grandma-ma's old bowls.

This pumpkin has gummy worms crawling out of its head.  I thing this is very clever...but don't eat the worms.

Another clever decorated pumpkin.  It looks like an octopus on top of a fish.

I bet this is your favorite.  Someone made a pumpkin hamburger bun.

Grandma-ma likes this map of the US using pumpkins.  I bet your teacher would like this too.

Look, it's pacman pumpkins.  Whaca, whaca, whaca...!

This is grandma-ma's favorite.  Look how detailed these decorative pumpkins are.  Someone was very patient when they decorated these.

Here's smiling at all of you.  Have a pumpkin loving day, my raviolis.  Grandma-ma loves you.

Word of the week Wednesday

Hello my raviolis.  Today is Wednesday and you know what that means...word of the week.  Today's word is:

Wonderful

Yes, Wonderful, because grandma-ma had a wonderful time visiting the NY raviolis this past week.

Playing on playground equipment.

Making funny faces.

Feeding Boo Boo and Princess.

Running around and around the playground.

Meeting new friends at the Ren Faire.

It was a "wonderful" week of fun and good food and interesting places to visit.  Grandma-ma had a wonderful time with all of you.  Hugs and kisses to my NY raviolis.
